The Developing Player Programme (DPP) As illustrated below, the Harlequins Developing Player Programme (DPP) serves as the entry point to the Harlequins talent pathway for U14 to U16 players.


  • Harlequins are responsible for the management of the DPP


  • To be eligible for selection for the Harlequins DPP players must have a postal address, attend a school or play for a club in Surrey, Sussex and the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Wandsworth, Croydon, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Merton, Richmond-Upon-Thames (South of the river) & Sutton.


  • In September the DPP starts with Harlequins contacting all clubs and schools in their catchment area inviting them to nominate three U14 players to attend the assessments for the U14 DPP


  • Club & Schools can nominate players for the DPP within agreed nomination windows for each age group from U14 to U16. In addition Harlequins Scouts will continue to identify players to join the DPP


  • At Under 16 the DPP players are assessed in December. Those players:
  • Who at U16 display with the greatest long-term potential to will join the Harlequins Academy Player Development Group (PDG) for U16 to U18 players.
  • Who do not join the Harlequins PDG will join the Sussex U16 Player Development Group. Harlequins

 

  • Harlequins will continue to evaluate all U16 to U18 players to identify any players who have the potential to join or re-join the Harlequins PDG.
