Walking Rugby is one of England Rugby’s non-contact formats of the game. It is a game that can be played by everyone, there is no tackling involved and participants must be walking at all times.

Our goal for walking rugby is to raise awareness of the sport and increase participation across Sussex.

For beginners to rugby, this version of the sport is a great way to learn the fundamentals of the game and develop skills with an opportunity to then progress into other aspects of the rugby, participate in competitive walking rugby festivals, or simply enjoy the social aspect of playing a team sport.

Walking rugby also offers injured and retired players a chance to return to playing rugby.

Walking rugby is fast developing across the UK, the RFU held a festival at Twickenham prior to the England Vs Fiji World Cup warm up match in August 2023.

Now is a great time to give this fun, social, competitive and exciting version of the sport a try.

If you’re an INDIVIDUAL looking for a game or a CLUB looking to offer Walking Rugby, please get in touch with the SRFU Walking Rugby Manager who will be able to help you to get set up and walking!
