Selection Process for the Sussex Men's County Rugby Squads
January: Invitations for Assessment
An invitation letter and a Google Application Form will be sent to all Club Chairs, Directors of Rugby and Club Presidents to share with their coaching teams to nominate players to be assessed to play for the Men’s County Rugby Squad.
All clubs between Levels 5-7 are asked to nominate suitable players, but this does not mean a player at a club playing below level 7 can’t be put forward by their club to be assessed to play for the Men’s County Rugby Squad, as the programme is open to all players within Sussex.
March: Trials and Selection
Trials for the Men’s County Squad will take place in March at Brighton RFC. Selection will be made by 31st March.
April - May: Training
Training takes place in April on Wednesday evenings at Brighton RFC
May: Matches
The Sussex Men’s Squad play in the Bill Beaumont League 3 competition. They play three matches in May with a Semi Final and a Final Match in June if they progress in the competition. These RFU sponsored matches take place outside of the club rugby season which is sanctioned under RFU regulations.

The Sussex Men’s U20 Squad play in the Jason Leonard competition. They play three matches from March to May with a Semi Final and a Final Match in May if they progress in the competition. These RFU sponsored matches take place outside of the club rugby season which is sanctioned under RFU regulations
